In 2020, Cordoba, Argentina, was rocked by chaos after police fatally shot a minor, igniting a firestorm of outrage and deepening the rift between law enforcement and civilians.
This Is The Story of Byrna In Latin America.
As a consequence of Blas Correas in August of 2020, the police of Cordoba was facing a major crisis. The relationship between the police of Cordoba and people of Cordoba was broken. At that time, Liliana Zárate Belletti was the chief of police responsible for dealing with that crisis. And during that challenging time she found the solution in Byrna.
Belletti saw in Byrna the opportunity to avoid the use of lethal force when it was not necessary. From then the province of Cordoba welcomed a massive implementation of the Byrna less-lethal platform. To date, the police of Cordoba have used Byrna in thousands of cases.
Following Belletti's successful introduction of Byrna to the use of force protocol, the Minister of Security, Juan Pablo Quinteros, and the current Chief of Police, Commissioner General Héctor Leonardo Gutiérrez, expanded the use of Byrna to not only all officers but also municiple guards.
Byrna's accomplishments in Cordoba brought to attention the Argentinian Federal Government that implemented the less-lethal platform in it's four forces. By the end of 2025, Byrna will have more than 26,000 in operation.
This amazing success story in Cordoba is just the start. Byrna will continue it's mission to be the alternative to deadly force.
