Recently, politically driven protests have called for activists to target both people and property based on the type of car they own. As a result, we have seen widespread attacks across the nation, regardless of the car you may own. Here are a few tips to ensure you are prepared to defend both yourself and your property if faced with a violent attacker:
Stay in Your Car: The most important thing is to not get out of your car if you don't have to. If there is any route to drive away, take it, even if it means breaking a traffic rule. Your safety is the priority.
Use Your Byrna Launcher: If you can't drive away and the assailant has a weapon likely to break your window, or if your window is already down, you will need to use your burner launcher from inside the car. This is why my first two rounds are kinetic. If I have to deploy my Byrna in this situation with Max or pepper rounds, I will likely be within the 5-ft chemical agent cloud. Two kinetic rounds out of the launcher first may be enough to stop the threat.
Look for an Escape: During the entire encounter, you should be looking for a way out and take it at the first opportunity. These events can be extraordinarily intense and happen within seconds, but with these tips, I know you'll be prepared to defend yourself.
