The Byrna SD is our most popular less-lethal pistol. Factory-refurbished, rebuilt, and certified on Byrna's production line — includes launcher and one magazine. Legal in all 50 states.

The Byrna SD (Self Defense) is the successor of the Byrna HD. It has been re-engineered for optimal performance. Powered by compressed air (CO2), the Byrna SD shoots .68 caliber round kinetic and/or chemical irritant projectiles that can disable a threat from up to 60-feet away. It is an incredibly powerful and non-lethal self-defense weapon.

WHAT CERTIFIED REFURBISHED MEANS

Every Certified Refurbished Byrna launcher is factory-refurbished from the inside out — fully disassembled, cleaned, inspected, and rebuilt so that critical components meet Byrna’s performance standards.

Rebuilt with current-production upgrades. Key wear parts are replaced, valves are rebuilt with new seals, and each launcher is updated with the latest components.
Tested on Byrna’s production line. Certified Refurbished launchers are reassembled on the standard production line and must pass multiple in-line, end-of-line, and final inspection checkpoints before approval.
Live-function tested. Each launcher is fired at full pressure using Byrna projectiles to verify muzzle velocity, shot capacity, safety function, magazine fit, projectile retention, and overall operation.
Leak-tested and quality documented. Every launcher is checked with ultrasonic leak detection, inspected for cosmetic condition, and electronically verified at each required stage before final kitting.

WARRANTY

Every Certified Refurbished launcher is backed by a 6-month Byrna warranty. The Byrna SD is not classified as a firearm therefore does not require a permit or background check to own. Must be 18 or older to purchase. * This kit does not come with chemical projectiles.
