On this episode of “If They Only Had a Byrna,” a California flower vendor is randomly attacked and robbed in broad daylight on the streets of Inglewood. Just last month, an Inglewood man selling flowers near the 105 was brutally beaten and robbed, seemingly at random.
Several people can be seen driving by the attack as it unfolded, and it wasn’t until a good Samaritan stepped in to defend the victim, ultimately stopping the attack. This is the second time that Juan Diaz has been attacked while selling flowers. In the previous attack, he was even stabbed and hospitalized.
If he only had a Byrna, Diaz would have had a viable, effective, and most importantly, a LEGAL means to possibly stop the attack before it even started. Most offenders are looking for an easy target of opportunity when committing robberies. Many times, a positive show of force is all it takes for those would-be assailants to turn and run.
But even if the attacker continued to advance, the force of Byrna’s kinetic rounds would have been more than effective enough to give Diaz a chance to escape. These rounds are one of the only types that are safe enough to use at point-blank range without the fear of causing serious bodily injury or death.
Be smart, be safe, and be prepared to defend.
